Thomas C. Gingrich, Sr.

Thomas C. Gingrich Sr., 75, of Shermans Dale, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 17th, 2020, with his wife by his side. He was born November 27, 1944, to the late John Sr. and Anna Gingrich of Summerdale (the youngest of 15 children). He was a follower of Jesus Christ and read his Bible respectfully every morning and night, cover to cover each and every year along with daily devotionals.

 He was a 1962 Graduate of East Pennsboro High School and was on the school’s undefeated Football Team of 1959.  He served in the Navy from 1963 to 1967. He was a retired Sheet Metal worker of Local Union 19, and a past member of the Shermans Dale Fire Co. and the Lions Club. Tom was also a member of Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church, where he was a board member and served on the Cemetery Association; he loved his church family. He coached Shermans Dale Youth Baseball Teams for many years throughout the late 1970s, mid-1980s.  

 Tom enjoyed family gatherings, reunions, blowing his train whistle, fishing, hunting, and all sports. He played baseball, football, volleyball, wrestled, and bowled.  He especially enjoyed watching all his grandchildren play ball and particularly heckling the umpires.  

Tom is survived by his caring, loving wife of 52 years, Audrey Sanno Gingrich, a son, Thomas Gingrich Jr., and wife Stefanie of Landisburg, a daughter, Jennifer McCurdy, and husband Jonathan of New Bloomfield, 6 Grandchildren, Allison, LeAnn & Rachel Gingrich, Lindsey, Emily, and Ryan McCurdy. Siblings, Doris Baker, Naomi (Paul) Styer, JoAnn Warner, Joyce Wentz, David (Pat) Gingrich, and Michael Gingrich. Tom also had numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and brother & sister-in-laws.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Clair Gingrich, Helen Koch, Thelma Kramer, Samuel Gingrich Sr, John Gingrich Jr, Kathryn Fay Brashear, Wilma Hutchinson, and Ann Blosser.

 SERVICE DETAILS

PLEASE NOTE SERVICE CHANGE:

Graveside services with full military honors will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 12 PM at Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church Cemetery. COVID-19  protocols will be observed. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church or the Mt. Gilead Cemetery Association 935 Windy Hill Rd. Shermans Dale, PA 17090.
