Mildred G. “Millie” Novinger, 92, of State Road, Duncannon, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at her Penn Township home. She was surrounded by her family.
Born March 15, 1928 in Millersburg, she was the daughter of the late Wilmer and Maude (Sands) Gutshall.
“Millie,” as she was known to thousands of customers and many friends, along with her late husband “Dick,” owned and operated The Garden Seat Tea Room for 60 years and 4 days. The food was always homemade, never frozen, and her cooking was from scratch to the delight of all who had the good fortune to eat there. She was a Christian, a member of Middle Cove Bible Church, and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was the widow of Richard “Dick” Novinger (2009) and is survived by a daughter, Lucinda “Cece” Novinger and husband Tom Reynolds. Several nieces and nephews along with her fur-babies, Dottie, Browney, Elmer, and Peapod and her grand-dog Shaggy. In addition the parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, September 25, 2020, in the Boyer Family Funeral Home, 230 N. High Street, Duncannon. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Millersburg. Rev. Benjamin Brown will officiate. Viewing hours are 5-7 PM on Thursday, September 24, 2020 and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
