Larry L. Sanno, 76, of New Bloomfield Road, New Bloomfield went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 3, 2020 in Mechanicsburg, PA. Born December 5, 1943 in Carlisle, PA., he was the son of the late Charles Sr. and Myra (Hurley) Sanno.
Larry was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He was a member of Snyder’s United Methodist Church since 1971, where he served as chairman of the board, president of trustees, Sunday School teacher and Youth Fellowship leader. He coached and played on the church softball team for more than 40 years. He was a 1962 graduate of Perry Joint High School and was a sheet-metal worker and a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 19 for 51 years. He was also an Assistant Project Manager in General Services for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania retiring in 2017. He served his country in the Pennsylvania National Guard from 1964-1970.
He was a member of the Duncannon Sportsman’s Club, New Bloomfield Sportsman’s Club, New Bloomfield Fire Co. and Fireman’s Club. He served the Pennsylvania Hunters and Trappers Education program for 25 years. Larry enjoyed bowling for many years at the New Bloomfield Bowling Alley and ABC West. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed going to the West Perry baseball games where his son Jeff was the coach. One of the very special things he loved to do was going to see his grandson, Mason and granddaughter, Ema participate in sporting events. He was their number 1 fan.
Surviving are his loving wife of 54 years, Bonnie (Graham) Sanno. A son, Jeff Sanno and wife Erin, and grandson Mason and granddaughter Ema all of New Bloomfield; 2 brothers, Richard Sanno and wife Doris, Darwin Sanno and wife Lisa; 6 sisters, Audrey Gingrich and husband Thomas, Beverly Zeigler and husband Clifford, Darlene Saylor, Jeannie Zellers and husband Gary all of Shermans Dale, Wendy Bailor and husband David of East Waterford and Nancy Casler and husband Mike of Enola; aunt Shirley Bitner of VA, aunt Vergie Blair of TX, and uncle Richard Hurley of OH. More like brothers than brothers-in-law, Darryl Graham and wife Sharon of New Bloomfield and Roddy Graham of Hollidaysburg; Many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Charles Sanno, Jr.
Burial will be private. Given the Coronavirus constraints, a memorial service will be announced and held at a future date and time.
