John C. Kiner

3/2/48 – 8/20/20

John C. Kiner, 72, of Shermans Dale, Pa, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, August 20th, 2020.

He was born on March 22, 1948 in Harrisburg, Pa to the late F. Donald and Betty L. Kiner.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                          A graduate of Central Dauphin High School and Millersville University, John was a retired graphic arts teacher for Cumberland Valley High School.  He was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and Perry Housing Project and recently retired as a co-director of the Perry County Food Bank. John was a very involved member at Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church where he spent many years teaching The JOY (Jesus, Others, Yourself) class.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                        John is survived by his loving wife and best friend Linda (Swartley) Kiner; daughters Jen Beaston (husband Kenny) and Kim Sheibley; son David Kiner (wife Tonia); sisters Joan Bolton (husband Jack) and Marilyn Grubbs (husband Jerry) and several grandchildren.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                      John wants us to know he is in Heaven and is waiting for us to join him when the time comes and he said “don’t disappoint me.” We know he was met in Heaven by Jesus who told him “well done, my good and faithful servant.”


Services will be held at Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church, 935 Windy Hill Rd, Shermans Dale on Monday, August 24th at 3:00pm.  A viewing will be held at the church 2 hours prior to the service.
