Deborah Jean Beaston

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

– 2 Corinthians 4:18

Deborah Jean (Kepner) Beaston , 66, of Blain Pa, passed away peacefully at home on November 7, 2020 after losing her battle with liver cancer.  She is the daughter of Ralph Kepner and the late Dorothy Colyer Kepner.  In addition to her father and his wife Gladys, she is also survived by her loving husband Edwin, daughter Elizabeth of Blain, Rowan, her faithful canine companion, one sister-in-law, two brothers-in-law and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Deborah earned her Masters Degree in Education and retired after 37 years from Blain Elementary School as a first grade, kindergarten, and IST teacher.  She was very proud of her career and was chosen for the “Who’s Who” multiple times.  She was also instrumental in initiating the Community Library of Western Perry County as well as establishing the Children’s Tent at Shermans Valley Heritage Days. Being a Girl Scout Leader was something she found to be very rewarding. She spent 13 years operating the Tasty Treats Ice Cream Truck with her husband and daughter.

Deborah enjoyed being with friends and family.  It was not uncommon for her to have large gatherings at her home where she could show her love for them with a meal.  She believed being with others was the very best gift she could receive. Traveling, quilting, crafting with friends, reading, and being at the beach were some of her other favorite past-times.  She was honored to have touched countless lives over the years through teaching and volunteering in the community. She felt every student was gifted and strived to help them with their gifts.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at 3pm at the Boyer Family Funeral Home, 101 W. Main St, New Bloomfield.  Chaplain Ed Rabenstein will be officiating. A visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be sent to CLWPC (Community Library of Western Perry County) 104 E. Main St. PO Box 56, Blain, PA 17006.
