Dale L. McAlister, 85, of, Shermans Dale, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 24, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born June 5, 1934 in Shermans Dale, he was the son of the late Dewey C. and Mary (Yohn) McAlister.
He was an army veteran and a member of Young’s United Methodist Church, Shermans Dale.
Dale was active in many community and church activities through the years. He was retired from Ralston-Purina Co. and worked several years for Bobby Rahal. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with friends and family. He especially enjoyed supporting his grandkids and cheering them on at their sporting events which he rarely missed.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Bonnie M. (Brunner) McAlister. Two daughters, Lisa M. Cosella and husband Peter of Delaware, Tanya L. Binger and husband Randy of Shermans Dale. Grandchildren, Derek Ulsh and wife Meghan of Ohio, Kayla (Binger) Stambaugh and husband Hunter of Elliottsburg, Mitch Binger and wife Nicolle of Elliottsburg. Great-grandchildren, Piper and Reese Stambaugh and and Isla Ulsh. Also surviving is a sister Doris Durnin or Parksburg, Pa. and a sister-in-law Florence McAlister of Shermans Dale.
In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by two brothers, Max and Joe McAlister and sister Charlotte Frey.
Services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 in Young’s UM Church, 101Young’s Church Road, Shermans Dale. Rev. Travis Allhouse will officiate. Burial, with full military honors provided by the Perry County Honor Guard, will be in the church cemetery. Viewing hours will be Monday, 6-8 PM in the Boyer Family Funeral Home, New Bloomfield and Tuesday at the church one hour prior to the service.
