William E. Bloom Sr., 64, of Valley Road, Shermans Dale, died early Tuesday, August 2, ,2016 in The Manor At Perry Village, New Bloomfield.
He was born December 13, 1951 in Kingston, PA and was the son of  Charles Bloom Sr. and Helen Bloom.
He was a patriot and served in the Marines during the Vietnam War, and was a retired computer programmer for the Department of Welfare, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  He also was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Marysville where he sang in the choir and served on several committees, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He was a 1969 graduate
of Wyoming Valley West High School and Lincoln Technical Institute.
Surviving are his wife Carolyn (VanderWeide) Bloom; a son, William E. Bloom Jr. of Harrisburg; two daughters, Beth Heller and husband Brent of Duncannon and Sara Wright. A brother Walter Bloom and wife Cindy of Hollidaysburg.  Two sisters, Shirley Bloom of Kingston, PA and Marion Lee of Wilkes-Barre.   6 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 5 sisters, a brother, a nephew and a great nephew.
Services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, August 8, 2016 in Bethany United Methodist Church, 400 Lansvale St., Marysville. His Pastor, Laura Kincaid, will officiate.  Burial, with full military honors, will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.  Friends may call at
Boyer Family Funeral Home, 230 N. High St., Duncannon on Sunday, August 7, from 6-8 PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
